Biography
Sister Jean Michele, formerly Sister John Michele, was born Jean Michele Monaghan on July 10, 1919. She died on Feb. 16, 2013. She was 93 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 49 years.
Sister Jean Michele entered the Congregation on Sept. 12, 1963. She professed first vows in 1966 and final vows in 1969.
Her teaching ministry began at St. Francis Cabrini Parish in Crestline, Calif., where she taught CCD and assumed various parish duties. She then returned to the Midwest and ministered as Community Representative for the large groups of sisters living in Providence and Foley halls. She also spent time ministering at St. Elizabeth’s, Van Nuys, Calif., as a librarian before returning to the Woods.
Sister Jean Michele was quite fond of traveling. She and Sister Angela Clare Gorman both visited Ireland.
