Biography
Sister Jean was born Jean Frances Ernstes on Feb. 19, 1930. She died on Sept. 29, 2004. She was 74 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 18 years.
Sister Jean transferred her vows to the Sisters of Providence on June 8, 1986, after spending 26 in the Congregation of the Society of Mary Reparatrix.
During her time as a Sister of Providence, she ministered as a chaplain at St. Anne and St. Elizabeth hospitals, both in Chicago. She then ministered as an administrator at Providence Hall before ministering as a personal ministries assistant/secretary at Edna Martin Christian Center, Indianapolis. She also ministered in various capacities with the Central Indiana Council on Aging.
She died at Wishard Hospital, Indianapolis, following an automobile accident.
