Biography
Sister Jean, formerly Sister Marian Jean, was born Nov. 22, 1923. She died March 8, 2009. She was 85 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 68 years.
Sister Jean graduated from the Providence Juniorate at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, and entered the Congregation on Jan. 5, 1941. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1943 and 1949, respectively.
Sister Jean spent more than 50 years ministering as a teacher at the elementary and junior high level. She returned to the Woods in 1998 and ministered in volunteer services, specifically as a seamstress. Many sisters wore clothing she either made or altered.
Many of the volunteers who worked alongside Sister Jean said was a special person who impacted their lives.
