Biography
Sister Frances Marie Finnegan, formerly Sister Mary Donald, was born on July 8, 1916. She died on June 23, 2007. She was 90 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 66 years.
Sister Frances entered the Congregation on Feb. 2, 1940. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1942 and 1948, respectively.
Her first teaching ministry was at Sacred Heart, Evansville, Ind., in 1942. She also taught in classrooms in various other Indiana schools, as well as schools in Illinois and North Carolina. In addition, Sister Frances ministered as assistant treasurer of St. Joseph Province, Park Ridge Ill., from 1979 to 1988. After a sabbatical year, Sister Frances ministered nine years in the library at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
During her sabbatical at Gonzaga University, she managed to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, as well as visit Athens, Jerusalem, Galilee, Rome and Copenhagen.
