Biography
Sister Frances Alma was born Mary Agnes Potts on Feb. 23, 1911. She died on May 16, 2012. She was 101 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 83 years.
Sister Frances Alma entered the Congregation on June 7, 1928. She professed first vows on Feb. 24, 1931, and final vows on Jan. 23, 1936.
She began her teaching ministry in 1931 at St. Catherine School, Fort Wayne, Ind. She taught in many other classrooms in Indiana, as well as schools in Illinois, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Washington, D.C. She was the founding principal of Mother Theodore Guerin High School, River Grove, Ill. She returned home to the Woods in 1993.
In 1962, as principal at Mother Theodore Guerin High School, she welcomed the freshman class of 398 students.
