Biography
Sister Emily, formerly Sister Mary Francine, was a native of Saginaw, Michigan. Her final ministry was in prayer at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. Prior to this, she ministered in the Providence Hall Resource Center at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
Sister Emily entered the Congregation on July 22, 1952, professing first and final vows on 1955 and 1960, respectively.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in French from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and has a bachelor’s of science degree in library sciences from Spalding College.
Of her ministries, Sister Emily taught at schools in Terre Haute, Indiana (St. Joseph and St. Ann); Clarksville, Indiana (Our Lady of Providence High School); and Immaculata College of Washington and Preparatory School where she ministered as the librarian.
Sister Emily was also the librarian at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College from 1975 to 2001.
Sister Emily had an identical twin, Sister Leona Walsh, who passed away in 2010. She enjoyed listening to the Indianapolis Colts’ radio broadcasts and loved to play Bridge.
