Biography
Sister Eleanor was born Nellie Bernadine McAuliffe on March 15, 1914. She died on March 29, 2004. She was 90 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 71 years.
Sister Eleanor entered the Congregation on Aug. 18, 1932. She professed first and final vows on Jan. 23, 1935 and 1940, respectively.
She began her teaching ministry at Holy Trinity, New Albany, Ind. Sister Eleanor ministered as a teacher in other Indiana schools. In addition, she ministered as teacher and principal at St. Mary, Aurora, Ill., from 1955 to 1961. She also taught at schools in Maryland, Washington, D.C., North Carolina and New Hampshire. She returned to the Woods in 1996.
Sister Eleanor was known for her sense of humor and her patience.
