Biography
Sister Elaine, formerly Sister Elaine Marie, was born on October 29, 1935. She died on July 27, 2018. She was 82 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 65 years.
Sister Elaine entered the Congregation on July 22, 1953, professing final vows on January 23, 1961.
She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in education.
Of her ministries, Sister Elaine served as a teacher for 23 years in schools in Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She returned to the Motherhouse in 1979 and ministered in transportation and as a sister companion for health care.
In 2006, she dedicated herself primarily to the ministry of prayer.
Sister Elaine was known as a creative person, using her talents generously in service to others.
