Biography
Sister Dorothy, formerly Sister Marie Christopher, was born Dorothy May Souligny on Feb. 23, 1934. She died on Dec. 12, 2006. She was 72 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 50 years.
Sister Dorothy entered the Congregation on July 22, 1956. She professed first vows on Jan. 23, 1959, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1964.
Her teaching ministry began in 1959 at Sacred Heart, Terre Haute, Indiana. She ministered at other schools in Indiana, as well as teaching one year at Providence High School, New Lenox, Illinois. In 1971, Sister Dorothy began a ministry as regional superior of Taiwan. She returned to the United States in 1995 and ministered as a teacher at schools in Illinois before returning to the Woods in 2001.
Sister Dorothy was a fluent speaker of the Chinese language.
