Biography
Sister Catherine Ellen was born Helen Veronica Joy on Feb. 7, 1918. She died on April 18, 2008. She was 90 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 72 years.
Sister Catherine Ellen entered the Congregation on Jan. 11, 1936. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1938 and 1944, respectively.
Sister Catherine Ellen ministered as a teacher in schools in Indiana and Illinois. In 1986, she retired and returned to the Woods to minister on the Pastoral Care team in the Infirmary. She also ministered for several years in the Resource Center in Providence Hall.
One of her many talents included creating string art.
