Biography

Sister Brendan was born Margaret Harvey on Aug. 27, 1919, in Ayshire, Scotland. She died on Jan. 14, 2010. She was 91 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 73 years.

Sister Brendan entered the Congregation on Jan. 9, 1937. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1939 and 1945, respectively.

She began her ministry of teaching in 1939 at St. Athanasius, Evanston, Illinois. She also ministered as a teacher in Chicago, Maryland, St. Louis and many schools in Indiana. From 1977 to 1987, she ministered at Catholic Charities in Terre Haute, Indiana, and helped established the Simeon House at St. Patrick Parish, and in 2000, she established Providence Food Pantry in West Terre Haute, Indiana.

Sister Brendan wrote “The Story of Ann Therese,” a children’s book and coloring book about Saint Mother Theodore Guerin.
