Biography
Sister Beth, formerly Sister Thomas Aquinas, was born Elizabeth Carroll Kelso on Feb. 29, 1916. She died on Sept. 23, 2012. She was 96 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 76 years.
Sister Beth entered the Congregation on Feb. 12, 1936. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1938 and 1944, respectively.
She ministered as a teacher for 30 years in schools in Indiana, Illinois, Massachusetts, California and Washington, D.C. In addition, she ministered at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in the resident and the Women’s External Degree programs for another 20 years. Following her retirement from teaching, she ministered as registrar at Mother Theodore Guerin High School in River Grove, Ill., as well as various other ministries.
Sister Beth’s parents were both made a living on the stage in theater.
