Biography
Sister Beatrice, formerly Sister Mary Canice, was born Beatrice Margaret on Nov. 2, 1917. She died on March 4, 2013. She was 95 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 76 years.
Sister Beatrice entered the Congregation in 1937, professing final vows in 1945.
Sister Beatrice began her ministry teaching music to students from kindergarten to high school. She taught in Indiana, Illinois and California. In 1979, she coordinated the Retreat Center in Orange, Calif., and from 1980 to 1984, she ministered with Sister Brendan Harvey at Simeon House in Terre Haute as activity director. She came home to the Woods in 1996.
Ever the comedienne, Sister Beatrice was well known to also enjoy the game pinochle.
