Biography

Sister Barbara Marie was born on Feb. 15, 1917. She died on March 18, 2005. She was 88 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 69 years.

Sister Barbara Marie entered the Congregation on July 21, 1935. She professed first vows on Jan. 23, 1938, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1943.

Her teaching ministry began in 1938 at St. Mel, Chicago. She taught at other schools in Chicago, as well as classrooms in Indiana and North Carolina. From 1987 to 1996, she ministered as a librarian at St. Simon, Indianapolis before returning home to the Woods in 1997.

She was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and enjoyed visiting the Colts’ during summer camp at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
