Biography
Sister Anne Marita was born Mary Irene Wynne on April 1, 1916. She died on May 27, 2011. She was 95 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 76 years.
Sister Anne Marita entered the Congregation on July 15, 1934. She professed first and final vows on Jan. 23, 1937 and 1943, respectively.
Her teaching ministry began in 1937 at Maternity BVM, Chicago. She taught at other schools in Illinois, as well as schools in Indiana, She spent two years as support staff at the Spoon River Center for Community Mental Health in Cambridge, Illinois, before returning to the Woods in 1984, where she spent five years as a part-time faculty secretary at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
Faculty at the college referred to her as “Aunt Marita.”
