Biography
Sister Ann Xavier was born Bernice Margaret Hau on Nov. 12, 1920. She died on March 1, 2011. She was 90 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 72 years.
Sister Ann Xavier entered the Congregation on Jan. 5, 1939. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1941 and 1947, respectively.
Sister Ann Xavier began her teaching ministry at St. Jude, Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1941. She taught in many other schools in Indiana, as well as classrooms in Illinois, Maryland, Missouri and California. She returned to the Woods in 1998 but continued ministering as a volunteer.
Sister Ann Xavier was a friend to all, reaching out to others when she saw difficulty or sadness.
