Biography
Sister Ann Veronica was born Gertrude Olive Wall on Jan. 7, 1910. She died on Sept. 1, 2007. She was 97 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 76 years.
Sister Ann Veronica entered the Congregation on Aug. 14, 1931. She professed first vows on Feb. 27, 1934, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1939.
Her teaching ministry began at Our Lady of Sorrows, Chicago, in 1934. She taught at other schools in Illinois, as well as schools in Indiana, North Carolina, Maryland, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, where she spent 10 years at either St. Mary Grade School or Rochester Catholic. She retired from teaching in 1983 – after nearly five decades – and returned home to the Woods in 1993.
Sister Ann Veronica was the youngest of nine children.
