Sister Ann Francis Hammersley

Sister Ann Francis was born Dorothy Gertrude Hammersley on Jan. 25, 1927. She died on Jan. 29, 2014. She was 87 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 68 years.

Sister Ann Francis entered the Congregation in 1946. She professed first and final vows on Jan. 23, 1950 and 1955, respectively.

Sister Ann Francis ministered as a teacher for 47 years, teaching in schools in Indiana, Massachusetts, Washington, D.C., Maryland and New Hampshire. She also ministered on staff at Woods Day Care/Pre-school for nine years after returning home to the Woods in 1997.

Simplicity, happiness and obliging others without being judgmental radiated from her manner.
