Biography
Sister Andre was a native of Joliet, Illinois. Her final ministry was in prayer at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
Sister Andre entered the Congregation on September 12, 1960, having professed first vows in 1963 and final vows in 1968.
She has a bachelor’s degree in education from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and a master’s degree in education from Illinois State University.
Of her ministries, Sister Andre’s first teaching position was at Maternity BVM in Chicago before traveling to Galesburg, Illinois, to minister at Costa Catholic School for a total of 12 years. While at Costa Catholic, Sister Andre taught first grade and was principal for grades Kindergarten through fourth. She also created the Kindergarten program while at the school.
Sister Andre also ministered as a principal at St. Dennis School in Lockport, Illinois, for seven years, before beginning a learning resource center at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, where she ministered for four additional years.
From there, Sister Andre traveled to east and ministered at St. Rose School in Chelsea, Massachusetts for 23 years.
She returned home to the Woods in 2018.
Sister Andre said she was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and New England Patriots.
