Providence Self Sufficiency Ministries, Inc. (PSSM), is a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
The purpose of Providence Self Sufficiency Ministries is to assist children, families and older adults who are in need, achieve a deepened quality of life by providing a person centered home to foster the growth, development, living and healing of individuals in an atmosphere of care, respect and dignity.
Established in New Albany, Ind., in 1994, PSSM collaborates with local agencies and organizations to provide need-based services for families and senior citizens. They include:
- Providence House – Family reunification, a multi-generational living environment and case management.
- The Meadows – Safe and affordable apartments for senior citizens, individuals and couples age 62 and older with limited incomes.
- Guerin Woods – A full continuum of elder care including a senior citizens center, assisted living, skilled nursing care and memory care.
Programs are located at Georgetown, Ind. Sisters of Providence minister in the programs as directors, managers, coordinators and volunteers. PSSM provides administration, staffing and programming for all programs.
