Prayer

Prayer in the face of insurmountable obstacles

Here I am again, God, ready to just give up.
It’s all too much — the walls too high to scale,
the road too pitted with snares and far too long to walk alone.
Yet walk it I must, through trails beset with shadows,
where each turn leads me further from what I know.

Take my hand. Pull me along, with urgency, if needed.
Let me never stray from the course you’ve set out for me,
even when I cannot see my way through. You know the roads.
You made the map. I believe you can clear the way.
I place my trust in you as I take the next step forward.
Be with me, beloved friend.

Amen.
