Prayer

Prayer for those struggling with lack of faith

I haven’t heard from You lately. Truth is, we don’t talk much anymore.
I struggle to see You in this world, full as it is of hurt and ruin.
My faith is threadbare, worn almost to a whisper.
And yet I need You more than ever.
I need You to remind me that faith is a choice,
not a gift You bestow on those who are worthy.
Even when the panorama wounds me, I can choose my view
through the smallest of windows, the ones bright with hope.
I can envision myself on the rockiest of ledges
or preparing for flight to someplace new, green with possibilities.
I’m afraid that if I take the leap, I’ll fall. But it’s not up to me, is it?
You can do all that I cannot. You are the open palm waiting to catch me.
You are the sturdy bridge to the other side.
You have faith, even when my faith flounders.
All I have to do is walk to You.
Here I go.
Amen.
