Prayer

Prayer for a brighter new year

You who knows my heart, knows well
I am ready for this year to be over.
I cannot see what is ahead,
but I know my many attempts to order time
have ended each in broken dreams.
Let’s try something different.
I promise not to waste Your time with resolutions,
promises that pile up pitifully before February is through.
Instead, I will ask that Your resolutions be mine.
Your path, my path. Your will, my will.
Let us walk headlong into this new year together.
You lead, and I will follow.

Amen.
