Holistic Well-Being Coordinator
Join our team as the Holistic Well-Being Coordinator
The ideal candidate will be an effective collaborator and communicator, preferably with a strong spiritual life and social services background. The candidate will also have experience working with individuals and groups on the journey of faith, health, and aging. This individual is knowledgeable or willing to learn and be supportive of the mission and values of the Sisters of Providence through works of love, mercy and justice.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides support and is accessible to all Sisters of Providence. This may include occasional travel to a sister wherever she resides,
- Relates to and collaborates with the Clinical Care Director and the Chaplain using a holistic and positive approach to care,
- Works with a sister to identify her needs, and using a holistic approach, develops appropriate goals and interventions,
- Assists sisters with the discernment processes related to physical, mental and spiritual well-being, especially during times of transition, providing recommendations as appropriate,
- Provides counseling and support to sisters who are dealing with grief, transitions and crises,
- Provides psychological support and advocates for a sister in need, referring to health care professionals, mental health resources and treatment programs, etc. when appropriate,
- Facilitates educational programs for individuals and groups focusing on psycho-social and spiritual well-being, mental health, grief work, aging and other related topics, and
- Provides resources and education to enhance a sister’s ability to make informed decisions that foster one’s own well-being.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field such as social work, psychology or nursing. Certified chaplain, pastoral counselor or faith community nurse experience preferred,
- Knowledge and understanding of the culture of vowed religious life required, and
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with older adults using a holistic and positive approach to care.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ensures confidentiality and protects personal information by following HIPAA regulations, guidelines and standards of practice for the health professions,
- Experience working with and understanding the various issues associated with different life stages, especially older adults and an aging population,
- Demonstrates the attributes of compassion, empathy, and patience. Is approachable, collaborative and presents a positive attitude,
- Demonstrates ability to think critically, adapt, and lead effectively,
- Ability to help build morale and a relational culture,
- Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively or independently when needed,
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and
- Optional full-time or part-time employment.

The position requires work in an office setting along with travel to conduct site visits to sisters’ homes and/or medical facilities. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Working office environment containing many business machines including computer, office telephone/voice mail system, fax/copier, scanner, etc. Multi-task environment with potential for frequent interruptions.
