Archivist
Are you passionate about preserving history? The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Archivist to manage, organize, and safeguard our historical records. As an Archivist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our archives, ensuring the long-term preservation of valuable materials, and supporting our research and educational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and preserve a diverse collection of archival materials,
- Implement an organized system for easy access and retrieval,
- Oversee digital archiving and preservation efforts,
- Assist researchers and the public with reference services,
- Develop exhibits and outreach programs to promote our archives,
- Collaborate with departments and support archival needs,
- Identify funding sources and assist in grant writing, and
- Provide leadership to the archival team, including volunteers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in History, Library Science, or a related field,
- 2-3 years of archival experience, preferably in a non-profit or religious organization,
- Proficiency in archival software, with a preference for PastPerfect,
- Strong organizational and communication skills, and
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and preserving fragile materials.
