Becoming friends of God and prophets: Providence Community spring retreat

The Providence Community of Providence Associates and Sisters of Providence as well as the larger public, is invited to join us for the Providence Community’s spring retreat. Join us as scripture professor and Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa, Laurie Brink, O.P., takes us through a closer look at understanding God as friend.

The retreat “Becoming Friends of God and Prophets” makes two extraordinary claims.
1) That our life’s ultimate goal is friendship with God and
2) That the Scriptures provide the roadmap.
Friendship with God is a gift of Holy Wisdom (Wis 7:27). God speaks to Moses face to face as one speaks to a friend (Exodus 33:11). And most striking of all these biblical examples, Jesus calls his own disciples, “friends” (John 15:15).

Join us for engaging biblical stories and personal reflection. Grow in your awareness of friendship as an avenue to deepening our understanding of ourselves, and friendship as the ultimate metaphor for our relationship with God.

Attendance

Only virtual registration is currently open.

We have two options for attendance. Attend in person at beautiful Saint Mary-of-the-Woods for the fullest retreat experience. Cost to attend in person is $75. This includes three meals on Saturday and a continental breakfast on Sunday. (See some housing options below, priced separately.) Cost for Sisters of Providence to attend is $45. You must register to attend in person by Feb. 23.

Housing options

Goodwin Guesthouse at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods

$45 per night. All rooms can house up to two guests. Reserve your room and pay using the registration form at the bottom of this page. Only 18 rooms available.

Woodhaven Retreat and Guesthouse at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods

$50 per night. All rooms are single occupancy. Reserve your room and pay using the registration form at the bottom of this page. Only 6 rooms available.

Holiday Inn in Terre Haute, located at 3300 S. U.S. Highway 41, is offering a 10% price reduction for retreatants. Tell them you are attending the SP March retreat. 812-232-6081.
