A Providence Associate’s look at Chapter

“Something I often say about my relationship with the Sisters of Providence is that I cannot stray too far from who I am when I am with them. They keep me grounded, keep me real. The conversations at Chapter, both about the future and the past, were not only relevant to the identity of the Congregation. These are the women who taught me how to be who I am without apologizing, to be faithful to the Gospel even when it means being at odds with hierarchy, and to seek out peace in all things. I have learned so much about being a woman, a Christian, a Catholic, an environmental steward, and generally being a human from these people.

25-year old finds her community as a Providence Associate

“For me, being a Providence Associate gives me focus. As a Roman Catholic, living and preaching the Gospel (using words only when necessary) is a mission. But being a Providence Associate focuses that mission into a passion to spread the good news without acting superior,” writes 25-year-old Providence Associate Kaitlyn Willy on her blog for her newly founded e-magazine focused on bringing retreats to people in their daily life.

Aurelia (formerly Kaitlyn) has been a Providence Associate with the Sisters of Providence since 2013. A native of Missouri, Aurelia has a master’s degree in theology and is currently pursuing a doctorate in English with a concentration in environmental studies from the University of North Texas in Denton.
