Get to know Sister Jenny Howard
Audio File: “I think that we are called, that God leads us, to what will bring us the most wholeness in our life …”
Audio File … “One of the reasons I joined the Sisters of Providence was because when I watched them, they were happy, they seemed to like one another and they seemed to enjoy what they were doing. The deep down desire really was to serve God, to be for others.”
Audio File: How is my life different? The vows. “Our commitment really is to God and the people of God and to the Congregation.”
Audio File: The habit. “My mother would say, ‘Why are they not wearing the habit? How do I know who to hold the door for?’ I would say, ‘Why don’t you just hold the door for everybody?’” … I really want to be with people. I don’t want to be different in the sense that I’m distant or I’m perceived differently.”

About Sister Jenny
Current ministry: member of the Sisters of Providence leadership team
My good friend says I’m … a good listener.
Three things that are sure to make me smile are … 1) other people smiling 2) the beauty of creation 3) connecting with family and friends
When I am not at work or involved in ministry, you are most likely to find me … in the out of doors.
One thing most people don’t know about me is … I am adopted, and found my birth family in 2009.
The first thing that comes to mind when I think of God is … That God is LOVE, everyone and everything is an expression of God’s love; everyone is called toward “wholeness.”

A beautiful story about a beautiful person! Many, many thanks.
I loved knowing more about you Sister Jenny. You are an inspiration and a blessing to us all.
Jenny,
Pretty sure you won’t remember me but my sister and I met you at St. Angelas while visiting Sr Merry Mag to play cribbage and enjoyed a few Jamisons!
I myself went all through Providence schools, St. Athanasius and Marywood Evanston. It was the best education ever. Thanks to that education I became a very successful insurance agent now retired.
I remember some of your life story and am glad to see all is well with you and other SPs.
God love you, Jenny, for all the good work you continue to do!!!
