Mother Theodore: Who filled her shoes?
While Saint Mother Theodore Guerin began the journey of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, what do you know about the woman who carried on the mission?
Persons of all faith traditions are invited to join the Sisters of Providence for a look into the life of Mother Theodore’s successor, Mother Mary Cecilia Bailly, and how she was able to step into the shoes of Indiana’s first saint, during “Mother Theodore: Who Can Fill Her Shoes,” scheduled for 9:30 to 11 a.m., or 6:30 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Providence Spirituality & Conference Center.
The workshop will be facilitated by Sister Jan Craven. She said the workshops will begin with the journey both Saint Mother Theodore Guerin and Mother Mary Cecilia Bailly took from France to the United States.
“We’ll go over the death of Mother Theodore Guerin, very briefly, and the days following,” Sister Jan said. “Then, we’ll attempt to give a very fast running commentary on Mother Mary Cecilia’s life as the first to fill the shoes.”
Sister Jan said she hopes to include information the general public may not be aware of during the two workshops.
“We have items from many sources,” Sister Jan said, “which will reveal some ‘inside information’ that the general public may not know. The transition was not as smooth as one might think.”
Cost is $10, and the registration deadline is Oct. 3.
