Health Center to host open house in honor of National Health Center Week

In honor of National Health Center Week, scheduled for Aug. 10-16, all are invited to attend an open house at the Wabash Valley Health Center, a ministry of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind., set to take place from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 13.

The center is located at 1436 Locust St., Terre Haute.

Those attending will receive tours of the building renovations and meet the health care team. Refreshments will also be available.

Many updates and renovations have been made to the building, including five new exam rooms, an updated registration area, a new nurse’s station, and new work stations for all clinical staff.

Renovations were made with the purpose of updating and refreshing the building to make it more modern and user-friendly for the patients.

Each year, the second week in August is dedicated to celebrating the services and contributions of community, migrant, homeless and public housing health centers. While there are countless reasons to celebrate America’s health centers, among the most important and unique is their long success in providing access to affordable, high quality, cost-effective health care to medically vulnerable and underserved people throughout the United States.

“This is an exciting time for us because it’s the first year we’ve been able to celebrate National Health Center Week due to our becoming a Federally Qualified Health Center. In addition, we are excited for the opportunity to showcase our renovation and allow the community to meet our team of healthcare experts,” said Charlie Welker, Chief Executive Officer of Wabash Valley Health Center.

Wabash Valley Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center, which allows the center to expand its services to reach more people throughout the Wabash Valley while still providing quality health care.

Current hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information, call 812-232-7447.
