How we serve
Sisters in ministry
If you think about it, being Sisters of Providence isn’t just a ministry, it’s who we are. Individual sisters serve as teachers, parish life coordinators, nurses and advocates for people who are poor, elderly or ill. Sisters also serve in formal, Congregation-sponsored ministries like providing spiritual programs, events and retreats at the Woods or encouraging women to become new Catholic sisters with the SPs.
When we aren’t at “work,” you may find us in personal or group prayer or running a 5K marathon. You’ll find sisters within the communities in which we serve - at the grocery store, at a local festival or as a patient in the hospital.
Sharing the Gospel is a part of everything we do.
You'll find sisters involved in education, social services, healthcare, and spiritual, art and music ministries.
Living a life of love, mercy and justice in service of others is a way of life.
Education
Sisters are Catholic educators, teaching the next generation about love, mercy and justice.
Social services
Persons who are poor, elderly, ill or marginalized need an advocate to get the social services they need.
Spiritual ministries
Feeding the soul during times of grief, family hardship or spiritual drought is an important SP role.
Art & Music
Encouraging people in their faith through art and music is foundational to the SPs.
‘It is the rich life I have had in so many ways here and branching out and able to see and enjoy and believe, and hopefully bring people to a new place in their own lives.”
