SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION – part time 20 – 25 hrs per week

 

The Staff Accountant will support the CFO, Controller, and Accounting Supervisor in carrying out the responsibilities of the Central Business Office.  To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

  • Check, verify, and process invoices by entering them into the accounts payable accounting system.
  • Complete the weekly accounts payable check run.
  • Maintain vendor files including W9’s.
  • Assist with the vendor 1099’s annual process.
  • Prepare monthly bank and GL reconciliations as assigned.
  • Respond to financial and accounting questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Serve as backup for accounts receivable.
  • Assist with annual inventory counts.
  • Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Knowledge and experience in computer operations and accounting software, working knowledge of QuickBooks, and a proficiency in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to keep information confidential.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player that can collaborate with other teams in the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate with others.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects successfully.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • An Associate’s degree in accounting is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job requires a significant amount of sitting, computer work and some data entry.  There are times when travel by car is necessary.
