Sister Cathy Campbell: What does it mean to you to be a Catholic Sister today?

...Christmas Fun at the Woods. I offer workshops on the Mystics for the Providence Spirituality & Conference Center. I sometimes lead tours of the Shrine of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin and I enjoy welcoming visitors to the historic sites here at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. On the shores of history – The gift of a Dover sunrise!

...the United Nations Forums on Spirituality and Values and the Environment, at which she represents SMOTJ/OSMTH. Read my blog about my day at the United Nations. En route to Geneva, Switzerland, Rev. Dr. Ford, Dennis and I stopped at Dover, where Rev. Grieving gracefully into a future full of hope

...find me with you.” This passage has become my mantra in learning to grieve graciously. I use it both for myself and in helping others through my ministry today as a grief specialist. I feel a passion to use my experiences to minister as a wounded healer. Through my work, I help “comfort the afflicted,” as one translation of this spiritual work of mercy says. For me comforting the sorrowful means helping lift the spirit of a grieving person. It...

Mother’s Day reflection: God’s grace and love help mothers “do it”

...of Providence Spirituality and Conference Center. The National Shrine of Our Lady of Providence is now located in a prayerful space in the Church of the Immaculate Conception at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind. The shrine space looks lovely and is very conducive to individual or small group prayer. The oil painting of Our Lady of Providence hangs above a small and lovely marble ledge, wide enough for bouquets and candles. The pastels of the portrait complement the muted rose-grey-white marble of...

Dare to be merciful

...I “suggest” or “recommend” or “invite” you to read, reflect, discuss, pray about a topic or reading. This time, I dare you. I dare you to gather a group of friends, or parishioners or co-workers to tease out the meaning of mercy in our time. I dare you to study the image of the geography of Bethlehem’s environs, the ecosystem that helped to shape Jesus’ world-view, spirituality, feelings and thoughts. I dare you to think about the encouragement to have...

Comforting prayer

...quite a lot of Mariology – the study of her life and her spirituality. So, over the years, I’ve come to know her in a way that makes her seem a real, a multidimensional and vibrant saint of God, part of that communion of saints who surround and protect us. “Blessed are you among women” indeed. I believe that two words in that descriptive sentence are equally true of Mary – blessed and among. May we continue to call on...

...a strong desire to deepen their own spirituality. You model this for us. I was in Owens Hall at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods the other day. I stood in front of the pictures of all our former General Superiors. I stood there and thanked each of them for sharing their wisdom and courage with all of us. Each one of them and their council had hardship of some kind. Each one of them had to make decisions that were not easy. Each...
