...immediately arrested and handcuffed. This led to our spending a night in the local jail. That was an unforgettable experience! Later when I brought pictures to show to a group, some individuals turned away, not wanting to look at the pictures. This was a clear indication to me that they did not approve of our actions. One of our sisters spent six months in prison for her protesting in Georgia. She has not been deterred but continues to work for justice and peace. We have...

As we continue our celebration of Chinese New Year, during these two weeks of February, it feels like a very appropriate time to lift up our gratitude for our Sisters of Providence (SP) living and ministering in Asia. The book, “Against All Odds: Sisters of Providence Mission to the Chinese, 1920-1990” written by Sister...

...as Cor Unum. That ministry, as well as serving in a high school for girls, most of whom were African American, from 1984-89 significantly impacted Sister Joan’s life. Of the teaching experience she said: “It showed me how much I needed to grow to begin to understand the African American picture. ...and to see the pictures of our own Sisters Ann Margaret O’Hara, Denise Wilkinson and Diane Ris hanging on the walls in Mother Theodore’s home in Étables mirrored for me the indisputable relationship we have with Ruillé. Going to the Breton shores and putting my feet in the waters where Mother Theodore would go to reflect and pray while she was young led...

...walkways and bridges. Lights were dancing in images on sidewalks and sides of buildings. Snowmen and reindeer, candy canes and wreaths were all lit up. Lights not only decorated Christmas trees, lights actually formed Christmas trees. Everywhere I looked in this wonderland of lights, I say joy.
