Prayer

A prayer of presence

O Provident God,
You send me to serve the needs of others.

May those closest in my life —
my family,
my co-workers,
my neighbors,
my friends,
recognize your Presence in me.

May those in my faith community —
those who lead and those who nurture,
my fellow worshipers,
those who need my prayers,
those for whom I have promised prayers,
recognize your Presence in me.

May those I meet regularly —
the grocery store cashier,
the trash remover,
the garage mechanic,
the wait staff,
recognize your Presence in me.

Amen.

(This prayer originally appeared in the fall 2013 issue of HOPE magazine.)
