The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods are a community of vowed Catholic women religious. Inspired by our foundress Saint Mother Theodore Guerin, we are passionate about our lives of prayer, education, service and advocacy.
Live joyfully! Single, Catholic women ages 18-42 are invited to explore a fulfilling life as a Sister of Providence. All women and men of faith are invited to join the family of Providence as Providence Associates.

One way Carole Stokes of West Terre Haute, a Providence Associate, lives out the mission of love, mercy and justice is in her volunteer work at The Helping Hands thrift store. She’s been volunteering and helping on the board since 2007. “I feel like I’m doing God’s work. I see miracles happen every day here,” she said.
Volunteers prepare the store with new inventory on the days that it is not open. It’s a big job with as many items as are purchased each time the store opens.

Amy Miranda is a Providence Associate of the Sisters of Providence and a staff member in their Mission Advancement office. Amy is a 1998 graduate of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. She currently manages the SP publication HOPE and works on marketing support for Providence Associates, new membership and Saint Mother Theodore Guerin.
