The Church of the Immaculate Conception was filled to the brim with sisters, family, friends and children – it was a joyous day, for sure! A highlight during the liturgy was a collective reflection that began with introductory remarks by General Superior Sister Dawn Tomaszewski, followed by Sister Rita Clare Geradot who is celebrating 72 years in community, postulant Emily Tekolste (who has been with the community for a tad longer than six weeks) and Providence Associate Father Dan Hopcus who is also pastoral leader for the Congregation. All shared their perspectives on celebrating the 176th year of the Congregation and how the foundation story gives them hope for the future.
The midwest group of the Communion and Liberation organization visited Saint Mary-of-the-Woods during Foundation Day Mass. Some traveled more than five hours to join the sisters. They ate lunch and toured the shrine as well. It was joyous to have these guests present at the Woods.
