Biography

Sister Suzanne was born on June 20, 1917. She died on Nov. 19, 2005. She was 88 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 68 years.

Sister Suzanne entered the Congregation on Feb. 11, 1937. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1939 and 1945, respectively.

She began her teaching ministry in 1939 in Massachusetts. She also ministered as a teacher in Indiana, Illinois and California. After 37 years of teaching, Sister Suzanne began ministering at the Senior Friendship Centers in Florida in public relations and as an administrative assistant. She also ministered at a retirement facility in Florida before returning to Indiana to work at St. Gabriel in Indianapolis. She also established the Gift Shop at Providence Center, ministering there for six years.

An advocate for social justice, it was said of Sister Suzanne that “she was the best-dressed person holding a protest sign at the Newport Chemical Depot.”
