DESCRIPTION:Join the staff of White Violet Center for Eco-Justice (WVC)\, a ministry of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, Indiana\, and others as they host the upcoming Alpaca Yoga\, scheduled to take place from 11 a.m.-noon\, on Sunday\, May 24\, Sunday\, June 28\, Sunday\, July 26\, and Sunday\, August 23. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShannon Hamilton\, Athletic Director for Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and certified Yoga Instructor at Common Ground in Terre Haute\, will lead this unique experience along with the alpacas in the alpaca pasture. \n\n\n\nParticipants must be 18-years-old or older to take part and space is limited. Please bring your own mat and water bottle. We encourage you to also bring a towel or blanket to place underneath your mat! \n\n\n\nAttendees are asked to arrive at 10:45 a.m.\, and meet at the White Violet Center Farm Store. From there\, you’ll walk to the female alpaca pasture for the one-hour long exercise. \n\n\n\nCost is $15 per person and $5 for students. Immerse yourself in nature at our beautiful Woods while enjoying many different activities. There’s something for everyone from nature shows and earth-related craft activities for the kids\, to spinning\, weaving and felting demonstrations and visits with the alpacas that provide the fiber. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBe sure to bring your refillable water bottles for our free and eco-friendly water station. Our Providence Community will be hosting their popular bake sale with homemade baked goods of all kinds! \n\n\n\nThe festival begins at 11 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods is located 10 minutes northwest of downtown Terre Haute\, Indiana. \n\n\n\nWe will have entertainment like live music\, wildlife presentations\, woodcarving demonstrations and demonstrations on spinning and weaving. Food vendors will be available to purchase snacks\, beverages\, and meals – there will be something for all ages and dietary needs. DESCRIPTION:The class\, which is scheduled for February\, is so popular that we added a second one! \n\n\n\nSourdough breads are a delicious\, nutritional treasure and are easier to make than you may think. Let Candace\, our resident bread-baker\, walk you through the process. Learn sourdough bread-making basics\, tips\, and tricks for creating and maintaining starters and ideas for how to incorporate sourdough into a variety of other baked goods. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe workshop includes instruction materials and a sourdough starter. Starters will be provided to participants at the beginning of class. This is a demonstration class in which participants will observe the full creation and baking process. It is limited to 15 people. \n\n\n\nThe workshop will take place from 6-8:30 p.m.\, on Thursday\, March 19\, in the White Violet Center classroom. \n\n\n\nCost to attend the class is $50 per person\, which includes a sourdough starter.

Today\, it is a popular wedding and event venue. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSaint Mary-of-the-Woods College Athletic Trainer Shannon Hamilton\, who is also a certified Yoga instructor at Common Ground in Terre Haute\, will facilitate the session. \n\n\n\nParticipants are asked to bring their own mat and water bottle.  \n\n\n\nThose attending are asked to meet in the O’Shaughnessy Dining Hall lobby at 8:45 a.m.\, prior to the beginning of the session. \n\n\n\nThe registration deadline for this event is by noon\, Friday\, February 20.  \n\n\n\nRegistration for this event is also included in the registration for the upcoming Winter Rest and Reflect Retreat.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for yoga in the pasture with our alpacas and Shannon Hamilton\, Athletic Director at SMWC and certified Yoga Instructor at Common Ground in Terre Haute. This event is part of our collaboration with the Department of Sustainability at Indiana State University to celebrate the Earth (throughout) the month of April. \n\n\n\nThis is a free event but please register in advance. Participants will meet at the White Violet Center Farm Store at 9:45 a.m. and practice yoga for 60 minutes in the pasture among the alpacas. You need to provide your own mat and we encourage you to bring a towel or blanket for underneath your mat as well as your own water bottle. Participants must be 18 years or older. Space is limited. \n\n\n\nThose attending who are participating in our “We are all in this Together” raffle can earn a punch for their punch card to be eligible for our grand prize drawing at the end of the month! No purchase is necessary to participate.

DESCRIPTION:Visit our (almost) famous alpaca herd at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. Learn about the origins of alpacas and why they are so beneficial to our USDA-certified organic farm.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSee and feel their sheared fiber and go step by step through each process that occurs after shearing which includes skirting\, carding\, and spinning as well as a hands-on demonstration on how to weave using a tabletop loom.  \n\n\n\nLearn about other products made from alpaca fiber. There will also be a chance to make your own felted ornament at the end of the experience.
