SUMMARY:Racial and Ecological Justice Documentary: Farming While Black
DESCRIPTION:Join the Land Justice Futures (formally Nuns & Nones) Focus Communities* to view two special film screenings hosted exclusively for Land Justice Futures communities. Farming While Black is an incredible documentary that lifts up why ecological and racial healing are intimately and necessarily intertwined. The film will be screened twice on two separate dates.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis feature film is about the rising generation of young black farmers. Join Leah Penniman\, co-founder of Soul Fire Farm\, who reflects on the plight of Black farmers in the United States\, from the height of Black-owned farms at 14 percent in 1910 to less than 2 percent today. Leah and her Soul Fire Farm compatriots help propel a growing generation finding strength in the deep historical knowledge of African agrarianism – and its potential to save the planet. \n\n\n\n* The Land Justice Future’s Focus Community Program is a community of practice for women religious who are ready to create bold\, just\, and creative plans for the lands they love. Starting with a 2-year cohort experience\, this program builds power\, connection\, imagination\, and practical know-how among communities while they build land justice into the heart of their property plans.  \n\n\n\nYou can learn more about the documentary here

SUMMARY:Mystics and Fellowship
DESCRIPTION:Are you on a journey of self-discovery or are you seeking an encounter with the Divine? Do you hold questions about the world around you and your connection to it? If you are searching for meaning with your faith in today’s world\, we invite you to discover our series “Mystics and Fellowship.” \n\n\n\nThere are four virtual-only sessions scheduled\, with the first taking place on Saturday\, Oct. 26. The remaining three will take place on Saturday\, Nov. 23\, Saturday\, Feb. 22\, 2025\, and Saturday\, March 29\, 2025. Each session will take place from 9-10:30 a.m. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur series will focus on a thoughtful question each month: \n\n\n\nOctober: How do I move through the stages of my faith into a more authentic and life-giving sense of belonging and communion with God and others? \n\n\n\nNovember: How do I reconcile with the brokenness and divisions in the local and global communities we live in? \n\n\n\nFebruary: How can I move forward when my daily responsibilities are a burden and despair keeps me from seeing my future? \n\n\n\nMarch: How can I commune with our Creator when the natural world around me is in despair? \n\n\n\nPlease join us as we gather together to share a journey of personal transformation in the company of the ageless wisdom of the mystics. \n\n\n\nCost is $25 per virtual session. All participants are asked to register three days prior to each session.

SUMMARY:A Day of Rest at The Woods
DESCRIPTION:Would you like to create more peace in your life? There are messages we hear in our culture that suggest if we work harder\, we will produce more and do better. This can make us feel tired and disheartened. We can hear the need for rest if we listen to our bodies. If we listen to our hearts\, we might hear our Creator whisper that we are beloved images of the Divine. How can you listen? Do you need time to daydream\, nap\, walk in nature\, create and pray? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThomas Keating offers that “God’s first language is silence.” A Day for Rest at The Woods is a day retreat of purposeful quiet and contemplation. Participants will have options to join contemplative prayer\, meet with a spiritual director\, spend time alone and rest in many sacred places at The Woods. \n\n\n\nThe cost is $75.00 and includes a private room\, a box lunch and spiritual direction. Lodging is available upon request for an additional fee. \n\n\n\nThe facilitators will be Sister Mary Montgomery\, SP\, Marilyn Webb\, PA and Bridget Mooney.

SUMMARY:Way of the Cross for Justice
DESCRIPTION:Persons of all faith traditions are invited to attend this year’s Way of the Cross for Justice\, scheduled for 11a.m.\, on Good Friday\, April 18.
