SUMMARY:Pilgrimage to Palestine\, Pilgrimage Home: A Report Back
DESCRIPTION:During this past Advent\, 17 peacemakers led by Catholic Workers from across the country spent time in Palestine-Israel\, hosted by Sabeel\, which is the grassroots ecumenical Palestinian liberation theology movement rooted in the universal ethic of nonviolence. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPalestinians are seeking solidarity and a physical presence from faith communities in the United States amidst the U.S.-funded ongoing genocide in Gaza that is spreading to the Occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. \n\n\n\nThis educational driven livestreamed event will begin at 6:15 p.m.\, and conclude at 7:15 p.m.\, followed by a 30-minute question and answer session. DESCRIPTION:The class\, which is scheduled for February\, is so popular that we added a second one! \n\n\n\nSourdough breads are a delicious\, nutritional treasure and are easier to make than you may think. Let Candace\, our resident bread-baker\, walk you through the process. Learn sourdough bread-making basics\, tips\, and tricks for creating and maintaining starters and ideas for how to incorporate sourdough into a variety of other baked goods. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe workshop includes instruction materials and a sourdough starter. Starters will be provided to participants at the beginning of class. This is a demonstration class in which participants will observe the full creation and baking process. It is limited to 15 people. \n\n\n\nThe workshop will take place from 6-8:30 p.m.\, on Thursday\, March 19\, in the White Violet Center classroom. \n\n\n\nCost to attend the class is $50 per person\, which includes a sourdough starter.

Songs\, prayerful silence and short readings guide the focus of our prayer in a candle-lit environment. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEach Taizé service includes prayer\, simple music\, a time for silence and inspirational readings. Your presence will brighten a sisters’ day! \n\n\n\nMost of our volunteer opportunities are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Teens will gather at 9 a.m. in the lobby of Providence Spirituality and Conference Center at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes that allow you to be mobile. Lunch is provided. \n\n\n\nRegistration for each event is one day before.

Today\, it is a popular wedding and event venue. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSaint Mary-of-the-Woods College Athletic Trainer Shannon Hamilton\, who is also a certified Yoga instructor at Common Ground in Terre Haute\, will facilitate the session. \n\n\n\nParticipants are asked to bring their own mat and water bottle.  \n\n\n\nThose attending are asked to meet in the O’Shaughnessy Dining Hall lobby at 8:45 a.m.\, prior to the beginning of the session. \n\n\n\nThe registration deadline for this event is by noon\, Friday\, February 20.  \n\n\n\nRegistration for this event is also included in the registration for the upcoming Winter Rest and Reflect Retreat.

SUMMARY:Winter Rest and Reflect Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Winter is a great time to refresh\, relax and realign yourself for the upcoming seasons. \n\n\n\nJoin the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, Indiana\, for the Winter Rest and Reflect Retreat on the beautiful grounds of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. \n\n\n\nJoin facilitators Sister Corbin Hannah\, SP\, Director of Outreach and Events Tara Elmore and Ministry Support Specialist Raven Renn while you disconnect with daily life\, rest and engage in mindful activities to renew your spirit\, body and mind. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe retreat begins at 9 a.m.\, on Saturday\, Feb. 21\, and will end at 11 a.m.\, Sunday\, Feb. 22. There is an optional evening gathering at 7 p.m.\, on Friday\, Feb. 20\, and those planning on attending are also invited to Mass on Sunday\, Feb. 22\, at 11 a.m.\, followed by a brunch from noon-1 p.m.\, in the Doherty Dining Hall on the campus of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. \n\n\n\nThose attending can choose to arrive Friday evening for the gathering at 7 p.m.\, or Saturday morning. Lodging is available at the Woodhaven Retreat and Guest House and each person will have a private room and bathroom. There is a limit of nine persons to stay on campus. \n\n\n\nAll meals will be included in the cost\, but participants are asked to bring warm clothes and good walking shoes as some activities will take place outside. \n\n\n\nThere will also be a yoga event during the retreat. Those interested in taking part should bring comfortable clothing and a yoga mat. \n\n\n\nCost to attend the retreat with no lodging is $200 while the cost to attend beginning on Saturday\, Feb. 21 on campus is $260. Cost to attend beginning on Friday\, Feb. 20\, on campus is $320. \n\n\n\nPricing includes all supplies\, yoga and four meals\, including a Continental Breakfast on Saturday\, along with lunch and light supper in addition to a Continental Breakfast on Sunday. \n\n\n\nThe registration deadline for the retreat is February 16.

A second class has been opened for Thursday\, March 19\, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This will be the same class as the February offering\, and pricing remains at $50 per person\, including your instruction materials and starter. Register for the March class here. \n\n\n\nSourdough breads are a delicious\, nutritional treasure and are easier to make than you may think. Let Candace\, our resident bread-baker\, walk you through the process. Learn sourdough bread-making basics\, tips\, and tricks for creating and maintaining starters and ideas for how to incorporate sourdough into a variety of other baked goods. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe workshop includes instruction materials and a sourdough starter. Starters will be provided to participants at the beginning of class. This is a demonstration class in which participants will observe the full creation and baking process. It is limited to 15 people. \n\n\n\nThe workshop will take place from 6-8:30 p.m.\, on Thursday\, February 19\, in the White Violet Center classroom.

SUMMARY:Christmas Fun at the Woods (canceled)
DESCRIPTION:Due to the impending weather conditions and for the safety of our guests and volunteers\, we have decided to cancel Christmas Fun at the Woods.\n\n\n\nThe holiday tradition is back! Celebrate the coming of Christmas with the Sisters of Providence at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGuests of all ages are invited to the Providence Spirituality & Conference Center and Providence Hall for an afternoon full of fun for the whole family including crafts\, storytelling\, face painting\, bake sale\, cake walk and much more. \n\n\n\nThere may even be a visit from Santa himself! \n\n\n\nThe event will take place from 1:30-4:30 p.m.\, on Saturday\, Dec. 13. \n\n\n\nWe welcome a suggested donation of $5/car for this event. \n\n\n\nThe Sisters of Providence need more volunteers for various kids activities Saturday\, December 13th from 1:30 – 4:30 PM.  \n\n\n\nThe volunteer signup sheet is live! Groups and teens (with a guardian present) are welcome to volunteer for this event. \n\n\n\nInterested in learning more or have questions? DESCRIPTION:Taizé Prayer is a simple\, meditative form of worship for all spiritual seekers who would like to dwell deeply in God’s presence around and within us. Songs\, prayerful silence and short readings guide the focus of our prayer in a candle-lit environment. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEach Taizé service includes prayer\, simple music\, a time for silence and inspirational readings. Song refrains are sung many times over as a prayer of the heart. \n\n\n\nJoin us monthly on the second Tuesday in person or via livestream for this hour-long service\, based on a tradition from Taizé\, France. \n\n\n\nAll are welcome to participate. \n\n\n\nThe 2025 theme is “Widening Our Embrace.” \n\n\n\nCost: Freewill donation

DESCRIPTION:Come out to the farm for an up close and personal experience. Farmer Tara will introduce you to our alpacas. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou’ll also have an opportunity to meet some of our favorite chickens. Please dress appropriately for the weather. \n\n\n\nBoots or old shoes are recommended. Meet at the White Violet Farm Store. \n\n\n\nThe event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.\, with a new session starting every 30 minutes. The final session begins at 3:30 p.m. \n\n\n\nCost to attend is $7. Children ages 3 and below are free.

DESCRIPTION:Nature can teach us and heal us in profound ways. Join us for a guided meditation based on eco-spirituality (connecting with the Divine through nature). As we wander among the trees\, you will have the opportunity to connect with yourself and listen as the forest offers you guidance for your life. Leave feeling grounded and calm as you re-enter the world with more clarity and peace. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe trail is a mown path through the forest. It is considered an easy trail with uneven ground and some slight inclines and declines. You are encouraged to wear closed-toed shoes and dress accordingly for the weather. This meditation series begins at 10 a.m. EDT and lasts for about an hour. *Please note that this event could be cancelled because of inclement weather. \n\n\n\nAll who register will receive email reminders and updates based on the weather conditions. Registration is recommended but NOT required. These events are free\, but freewill donations are sincerely appreciated.
