DESCRIPTION:Join the staff of White Violet Center for Eco-Justice (WVC)\, a ministry of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, Indiana\, and others as they host the upcoming Alpaca Yoga\, scheduled to take place from 11 a.m.-noon\, on Sunday\, May 24\, Sunday\, June 28\, Sunday\, July 26\, and Sunday\, August 23. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShannon Hamilton\, Athletic Director for Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and certified Yoga Instructor at Common Ground in Terre Haute\, will lead this unique experience along with the alpacas in the alpaca pasture. \n\n\n\nParticipants must be 18-years-old or older to take part and space is limited. Please bring your own mat and water bottle. We encourage you to also bring a towel or blanket to place underneath your mat! \n\n\n\nAttendees are asked to arrive at 10:45 a.m.\, and meet at the White Violet Center Farm Store. From there\, you’ll walk to the female alpaca pasture for the one-hour long exercise. \n\n\n\nCost is $15 per person and $5 for students. In addition\, Haney will identify the invasive plants the Sisters of Providence have been working to eliminate. \n\n\n\nMake sure to wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather. \n\n\n\nCost to attend the workshop is $40. In so doing we are reminded of the persistence and resilience of life itself.  \n\n\n\nSoil recovers. Oceans team with life humans cannot even see but completely depend on for sustenance. Whole communities of people are singled out for inhumane treatment\, emotional and physical assaults\, and forced into the shadows to simply survive.  \n\n\n\nAnd communities of people across this nation and beyond show compassion\, courage\, and fortitude in reaching out and being neighbor to one another in the midst of systemic ‘othering’ that supports such violence. \n\n\n\nAnd so\, let us choose to pray\, to fast\, and to advocate that our hearts may be softened while our resolve to extend love and light to all is re-energized. \n\n\n\nPRAY\n\n\n\nHoly One\,You created a universe saturated in beauty\,fashioned us from stardust as one seamlessinterdependent whole with all of creationto be treated as your Body\, your image.Our hearts are crushed\, devastated by sorrowas we witness with horror\, destruction and violence at every level.Nations are engulfed in the unrelenting tragedy of warImmigrant families are being torn apart\, deported;People across the human spectrum\, made in your image\,are being treated as throw- aways.The rich are living in luxury while the poorlack the most basic necessities.For too long we have been blatantlyunresponsive to planet Earth’s long history of physical abuse.Despite our sense of despair and hopelessness\,Holy One\, You still call us to be your Providence\,to be Your voice for justice in our daily words and actions\,to plant seeds of hope\, however small and insignificant they may seem to be..With your grace we commit to witness in word and actionthe sacredness of all creation. \n\n\n\nFAST\n\n\n\nWe invite you to consider adopting some practice this day that engages your body\, mind\, and spirit.  \n\n\n\nPerhaps you will choose to do something you don’t usually do such as spend time in nature or gazing out a window admiring nature. Perhaps you will choose to not do something like avoid the network news or your favorite TV show.  \n\n\n\nWhatever you choose\, we hope it will help raise your awareness towards the special nature of this particular day for the Providence Community. \n\n\n\nADVOCATE\n\n\n\nSign this to Tell Congress: No Unconstitutional War with Iran/American Civil Liberties Union. \n\n\n\nCall your member of Congress. Link here and express your opinion towards ending the violence inflicted on our immigrant neighbors. Or the violence of the loss of healthcare support at the expense of a massive Pentagon budget. There’s something for everyone from nature shows and earth-related craft activities for the kids\, to spinning\, weaving and felting demonstrations and visits with the alpacas that provide the fiber. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBe sure to bring your refillable water bottles for our free and eco-friendly water station. Our Providence Community will be hosting their popular bake sale with homemade baked goods of all kinds! \n\n\n\nThe festival begins at 11 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods is located 10 minutes northwest of downtown Terre Haute\, Indiana. \n\n\n\nWe will have entertainment like live music\, wildlife presentations\, woodcarving demonstrations and demonstrations on spinning and weaving. Food vendors will be available to purchase snacks\, beverages\, and meals – there will be something for all ages and dietary needs. DESCRIPTION:Persons of all faith traditions are warmly invited to attend the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, Indiana\, 2026 Way of the Cross for Justice prayer service\, which will take place on Friday\, April 3\, Good Friday\, beginning at 10:30 a.m.\, and concluding at 11:30 a.m. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe event will take place in the Church of the Immaculate Conception at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. \n\n\n\nDuring the hour-long prayer service\, participants will recall Jesus’ journey to the cross while intentionally uniting His path with the many justice struggles confronting the world today. \n\n\n\nJoin facilitators Sister Barbara Battista\, SP\, and Margarita Solis-Deal through prayer\, reflection and communal presence\, as we are invited to contemplate suffering\, hope and our call to compassionate action. \n\n\n\nTraditionally\, the Stations of the Cross offer people of all faith traditions a spiritual pilgrimage of prayer — creating sacred space for reflection\, memory and response as they meditate on the scenes of Christ’s suffering and death. \n\n\n\nThe practice of walking the Stations to commemorate the Passion of Christ is said to have begun with Saint Francis of Assisi\, whose devotion helped shape this enduring expression of faith. \n\n\n\nThere is no cost to attend the program\, but freewill donations will be accepted. \n\n\n\nFor more information\, call 812-535-2952 or email provctr@spsmw.org.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods is the perfect place to slow down and listen for the voice of God. \n\n\n\nWho are we? What do we do? SUMMARY:Pilgrimage to Palestine\, Pilgrimage Home: A Report Back
DESCRIPTION:During this past Advent\, 17 peacemakers led by Catholic Workers from across the country spent time in Palestine-Israel\, hosted by Sabeel\, which is the grassroots ecumenical Palestinian liberation theology movement rooted in the universal ethic of nonviolence. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPalestinians are seeking solidarity and a physical presence from faith communities in the United States amidst the U.S.-funded ongoing genocide in Gaza that is spreading to the Occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. \n\n\n\nThis educational driven livestreamed event will begin at 6:15 p.m.\, and conclude at 7:15 p.m.\, followed by a 30-minute question and answer session. If a spot opens up\, we will reach out to you.  \n\n\n\nJoin White Violet Center for Eco-Justice\, a ministry of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, Indiana\, for the upcoming “Learn How to Weave: Table Runners” workshop! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe workshop will take place from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.\, on Saturday\, March 21\, at White Violet Center. \n\n\n\nJoin weaver John Salamone and others as you learn how to weave on a 4-shaft floor loom as you will wind warps\, dress looms and weave your own small table runner. \n\n\n\nA simple lunch of soup\, bread and salad will be included. \n\n\n\nCost to attend the workshop is $95. \n\n\n\nThere is a max capacity of six persons for the workshop. \n\n\n\nRegister online below or by calling 812-535-2946 or emailing lrobinette@spsmw.org.

DESCRIPTION:The class\, which is scheduled for February\, is so popular that we added a second one! \n\n\n\nSourdough breads are a delicious\, nutritional treasure and are easier to make than you may think. Let Candace\, our resident bread-baker\, walk you through the process. Learn sourdough bread-making basics\, tips\, and tricks for creating and maintaining starters and ideas for how to incorporate sourdough into a variety of other baked goods. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe workshop includes instruction materials and a sourdough starter. Starters will be provided to participants at the beginning of class. This is a demonstration class in which participants will observe the full creation and baking process. It is limited to 15 people. \n\n\n\nThe workshop will take place from 6-8:30 p.m.\, on Thursday\, March 19\, in the White Violet Center classroom. \n\n\n\nCost to attend the class is $50 per person\, which includes a sourdough starter.

DESCRIPTION:Taizé Prayer is a simple\, meditative form of worship for all spiritual seekers who would like to dwell deeply in God’s presence around and within us. Songs\, prayerful silence and short readings guide the focus of our prayer in a candle-lit environment. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEach Taizé service includes prayer\, simple music\, a time for silence and inspirational readings. Song refrains are sung many times over as a prayer of the heart. \n\n\n\nJoin us monthly on the second Tuesday in person or via livestream for this hour-long service\, based on a tradition from Taizé\, France. \n\n\n\nAll are welcome to participate. \n\n\n\nThe 2026 theme is “Journey Towards Wholeness.” \n\n\n\nCost: Freewill donation

DESCRIPTION:Are you 12-18 years old? Come share your time and talents with our retired Sisters of Providence at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods and health care residents.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVisit with elder sisters and help them with activities such as Bingo\, exercise\, baking\, card making\, attending events and more. Your presence will brighten a sisters’ day! \n\n\n\nMost of our volunteer opportunities are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Teens will gather at 9 a.m. in the lobby of Providence Spirituality and Conference Center at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes that allow you to be mobile. Lunch is provided. \n\n\n\nRegistration for each event is one day before.
