SUMMARY:Alpaca Yoga
DESCRIPTION:Join the staff of White Violet Center for Eco-Justice (WVC)\, a ministry of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, Indiana\, and others as they host the upcoming Alpaca Yoga\, scheduled to take place from 11 a.m.-noon\, on Sunday\, August 23. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShannon Hamilton\, Athletic Trainer for Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and certified Yoga Instructor at Common Ground in Terre Haute\, will lead this unique experience along with the alpacas in the alpaca pasture. \n\n\n\nParticipants must be 18-years-old or older to take part and space is limited. Please bring your own mat and water bottle. We encourage you to also bring a towel or blanket to place underneath your mat! \n\n\n\nAttendees are asked to arrive at 10:45 a.m.\, and meet at the White Violet Center Farm Store. From there\, you’ll walk to the female alpaca pasture for the one-hour long exercise. \n\n\n\nCost is $15 per person and $5 for students. SUMMARY:Hunger Bust Fun Run/Walk
DESCRIPTION:Providence Food Pantry invites the public to participate in the upcoming “Hunger Bust Fun Run/Walk” to take place at 10 a.m.\, on Saturday\, Sept. 12\, on the grounds of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, Indiana\, and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. \n\n\n\nSister Editha Ben.\n\n\n\nAll proceeds from the event will benefit Providence Food Pantry\, a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Providence. \n\n\n\nSince its inception on Sept. 8\, 1994\, the pantry has provided more than 14 million meals and has served more than 374\,000 individuals in the Wabash Valley. \n\n\n\nRegistration for the race will begin at 9 a.m.\, and conclude at 9:45 a.m.\, with the race beginning at 10 a.m.\, rain or shine. \n\n\n\nCost to take part in the race is $20\, with one T-shirt guaranteed to each pre-registered participant. Early registration must be received by Aug. 20. All T-shirts will be handed out during the event. \n\n\n\nMake checks for pre-registration payable to Providence Food Pantry/Hunger Bust\, and mail to Providence Food Pantry\, 701 W. National Ave.\, West Terre Haute\, IN\, 47885. Registrations will also be accepted the morning of Hunger Bust. DESCRIPTION:What if grief were not something to overcome\, but a sacred invitation to listen more deeply? \n\n\n\nCome rest among the trees and silence with the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, Indiana\, and others during the Tending to Grief Retreat. \n\n\n\nThe retreat begins at 9 a.m.\, on Friday\, November 6\, and concludes at 10 a.m.\, on Sunday\, November 8\, at the Woodhaven Retreat and Guest House at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. \n\n\n\nThrough reflection\, creativity\, embodied practice and ritual\, we will honor what we love\, what we’ve lost and what still longs to flourish. \n\n\n\nGrief is a common response to loss\, change and the realities of witnessing the suffering of our human and more-than-human kin. Join facilitator Sister Corbin Hannah\, SP\, and others during the weekend as you are invited to rest\, reflect and engage grief with curiosity\, creativity and compassion. \n\n\n\nThere will be dedicated time and space for exploring grief in the company of others; learning about the nature of grief and how it affects our lives; guided experiences in nature; creative expression and embodiment practices. \n\n\n\nThere will also be the opportunity for one-on-one sessions with a spiritual director. \n\n\n\nCost to attend is $375 and the registration deadline is Sunday\, November 1. \n\n\n\nAccommodations will be made available beginning at 3 p.m.\, Thursday\, November 5.
