SUMMARY:2026 Way of the Cross for Justice
DESCRIPTION:Persons of all faith traditions are warmly invited to attend the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, Indiana\, 2026 Way of the Cross for Justice prayer service\, which will take place on Friday\, April 3\, Good Friday\, beginning at 10:30 a.m.\, and concluding at 11:30 a.m. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe event will take place in the Church of the Immaculate Conception at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. \n\n\n\nDuring the hour-long prayer service\, participants will recall Jesus’ journey to the cross while intentionally uniting His path with the many justice struggles confronting the world today. \n\n\n\nJoin facilitators Sister Barbara Battista\, SP\, and Margarita Solis-Deal through prayer\, reflection and communal presence\, as we are invited to contemplate suffering\, hope and our call to compassionate action. \n\n\n\nTraditionally\, the Stations of the Cross offer people of all faith traditions a spiritual pilgrimage of prayer — creating sacred space for reflection\, memory and response as they meditate on the scenes of Christ’s suffering and death. \n\n\n\nThe practice of walking the Stations to commemorate the Passion of Christ is said to have begun with Saint Francis of Assisi\, whose devotion helped shape this enduring expression of faith. \n\n\n\nThere is no cost to attend the program\, but freewill donations will be accepted. \n\n\n\nFor more information\, call 812-535-2952 or email provctr@spsmw.org.

DESCRIPTION:During this past Advent\, 17 peacemakers led by Catholic Workers from across the country spent time in Palestine-Israel\, hosted by Sabeel\, which is the grassroots ecumenical Palestinian liberation theology movement rooted in the universal ethic of nonviolence. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPalestinians are seeking solidarity and a physical presence from faith communities in the United States amidst the U.S.-funded ongoing genocide in Gaza that is spreading to the Occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. \n\n\n\nThis educational driven livestreamed event will begin at 6:15 p.m.\, and conclude at 7:15 p.m.\, followed by a 30-minute question and answer session. DESCRIPTION:Join the Sisters of Providence on Sunday\, September 28\, for a Pilgrimage of Hope for Creation\, a spiritually transformative journey that blends prayer\, reflection and a deep commitment to caring for God’s creation. \n\n\n\nThe pilgrimage is part of the 2025 Jubilee Year celebrations\, inviting pilgrims from around the world to take part in a sacred walk of faith and ecological responsibility. \n\n\n\nAs part of the global call for ecological conversion initiated by Pope Francis in Laudato Si’\, this emphasizes the profound connection between spirituality and environmental stewardship. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPilgrims will embark on a journey that not only strengthens their faith\, but also challenges them to take concrete actions for the environment. \n\n\n\nThe pilgrimage is for everyone! While many of the sites at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods are outside and may require a good amount of walking\, we value inclusion and access and will provide alternative sacred spaces for pilgrims who may not be comfortable with the outdoor terrain. \n\n\n\nPlease dress appropriately for the weather by wearing comfortable walking shoes and make sure to bring sunscreen and a reusable water bottle. Water stations will be available for refills. \n\n\n\nMost spaces are accessible and there will be limited transportation to shuttle people who may need extra assistance. \n\n\n\nThe pilgrimage will take place at various places at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, Indiana. Check in time is 10-11 a.m.\, in the Foley Room at Providence Spirituality & Conference Center. Mass is at 11 a.m.\, in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Lunch will follow in the Community Room of Providence Hall. The pilgrimage will conclude at 4:30 p.m.\, with a closing prayer beginning at 4 p.m. Pilgrims are invited to bring a sack lunch or order a light lunch prepared by our catering staff. \n\n\n\nThere is no cost to attend the pilgrimage\, but registration is required.

DESCRIPTION:As Sisters of Providence\, we have a moral responsibility to use our collective voice to uplift Gospel values\, embody compassion and provide hope to those who are being silenced. On June 24 we are co-sponsoring an event in Washington\, D.C.\, with over 30 congregations of women religious\, where we will engage in prayer and public witness for immigrants and a just economy. We are also hosting an “echo event” being held outside the Church of the Immaculate Conception for those unable to attend in Washington\, D.C.\, but feel compelled to stand and support those without a voice. \n\n\n\nPeople of all faiths are invited to unite with the Sisters of Providence in compassion\, empathy and understanding for this special event. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own signs of solidarity and peace to lift the voices of immigrants and the disenfranchised. Come make a difference in this world as we continue our mission of love\, mercy and justice! \n\n\n\nThis event will take place on Tuesday\, June 24 from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. outside the Church of the Immaculate Conception\, come rain or shine. DESCRIPTION:You and the family are invited to the White Violet Center for Eco-Justice and Sisters of Providence annual Earth Day Festival at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods! Immerse yourself in nature at our beautiful Woods while enjoying many different activities. There’s something for everyone from nature shows and earth-related craft activities for the kids\, to spinning\, weaving and felting demonstrations and visits with the alpacas that provide the fiber. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSee below for a complete list of scheduled events. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBe sure to bring your refillable water bottles for our free and eco-friendly water station. Immerse yourself in nature at our beautiful Woods while enjoying the many activities. There’s something for everyone from nature shows and earth-related craft activities for the kids\, to spinning\, weaving and felting demonstrations and visits with the alpacas that provide the fiber. \n\n\n\nAttendees strolling through the booths in 2023.\n\n\n\nBe sure to bring your refillable water bottles for our free and eco-friendly water station.
