DESCRIPTION:Due to the impending weather conditions and for the safety of our guests and volunteers\, we have decided to cancel Christmas Fun at the Woods.\n\n\n\nThe holiday tradition is back! Celebrate the coming of Christmas with the Sisters of Providence at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGuests of all ages are invited to the Providence Spirituality & Conference Center and Providence Hall for an afternoon full of fun for the whole family including crafts\, storytelling\, face painting\, bake sale\, cake walk and much more. \n\n\n\nThere may even be a visit from Santa himself! \n\n\n\nThe event will take place from 1:30-4:30 p.m.\, on Saturday\, Dec. 13. \n\n\n\nWe welcome a suggested donation of $5/car for this event. \n\n\n\nThe Sisters of Providence need more volunteers for various kids activities Saturday\, December 13th from 1:30 – 4:30 PM.  \n\n\n\nThe volunteer signup sheet is live! Groups and teens (with a guardian present) are welcome to volunteer for this event. \n\n\n\nInterested in learning more or have questions? DESCRIPTION:You and the family are invited to the White Violet Center for Eco-Justice and Sisters of Providence annual Earth Day Festival at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods! Immerse yourself in nature at our beautiful Woods while enjoying many different activities. There’s something for everyone from nature shows and earth-related craft activities for the kids\, to spinning\, weaving and felting demonstrations and visits with the alpacas that provide the fiber. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBe sure to bring your refillable water bottles for our free and eco-friendly water station. Our Providence Community will be hosting their popular bake sale with homemade baked goods of all kinds! \n\n\n\nThe festival begins at 11 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods is located 10 minutes northwest of downtown Terre Haute\, Indiana. \n\n\n\nWe will have entertainment like live music\, wildlife presentations\, woodcarving demonstrations and demonstrations on spinning and weaving. Food vendors will be available to purchase snacks\, beverages\, and meals – there will be something for all ages and dietary needs. We will also have vendors and educational exhibitors on hand for earth-friendly shopping and to expand your knowledge of how we can be better stewards of our planet. \n\n\n\nThose interested in volunteering for the event can sign up here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA special thank you to this year’s sponsor\, Ranger Power LLC.

DESCRIPTION:Providence Food Pantry invites the public to participate in the upcoming “Hunger Bust Fun Run/Walk” to take place at 10 a.m.\, on Saturday\, Sept. 12\, on the grounds of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, Indiana\, and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. \n\n\n\nSister Editha Ben.\n\n\n\nAll proceeds from the event will benefit Providence Food Pantry\, a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Providence and a separate 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. \n\n\n\nSince its inception on Sept. 8\, 1994\, the pantry has provided more than 14 million meals and has served more than 374\,000 individuals in the Wabash Valley. \n\n\n\nYou may register directly now at this link\, or register the morning of the event beginning at 9 a.m. ET. Registration will conclude at 9:45 a.m. ET\, with the race beginning at 10 a.m. ET\, rain or shine. \n\n\n\nThe cost to take part in the race is $20\, with one T-shirt guaranteed to each pre-registered participant. DESCRIPTION:Join the staff of White Violet Center for Eco-Justice (WVC)\, a ministry of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, Indiana\, and others as they host the upcoming Alpaca Yoga\, scheduled to take place from 11 a.m.-noon\, on Sunday\, September 27. \n\n\n\nShannon Hamilton with some of our alpacas!\n\n\n\nShannon Hamilton\, Athletic Trainer for Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and certified Yoga Instructor at Common Ground in Terre Haute\, will lead this unique experience along with the alpacas in the alpaca pasture. \n\n\n\nParticipants must be 18-years-old or older to take part and space is limited. Please bring your own mat and water bottle. We encourage you to also bring a towel or blanket to place underneath your mat! \n\n\n\nAttendees are asked to arrive at 10:45 a.m.\, and meet at the White Violet Center Farm Store. From there\, you’ll walk to the female alpaca pasture for the one-hour long exercise. \n\n\n\nCost is $15 per person or $5 for students. DESCRIPTION:The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, Indiana\, and Providence Associates invite persons of all faith traditions to join them in person or virtually for the Eucharistic Liturgy (Mass) at 11 a.m.\, on Saturday\, October 3\, to celebrate the Feast Day of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin\, the eighth American Saint and foundress of the Sisters of Providence. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCelebrate the Feast Day of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin by joining the Congregation and Providence Associations for a special Mass. \n\n\n\nThe liturgy will take place in the Church of the Immaculate Conception at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, located about 10 minutes northwest of downtown Terre Haute. \n\n\n\nSaint Mother Theodore Guerin was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI on October 15\, 2006. \n\n\n\nStay tuned for more information regarding watching the Mass via livestream.

Used with permsission.\n\n\n\nJoin us October 11\, 2026\, at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, Indiana as we celebrate the life and legacy (and 20 years of sainthood!) of our foundress Saint Mother Theodore Guerin. \n\n\n\nThis time of celebration will include: \n\n\n\n\nA pilgrimage through the sacred grounds of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, where Mother Theodore lived her mission and where generations of Sisters of Providence have continued her legacy of love and service at 9:30 a.m.\n\n\n\nA special Eucharistic Liturgy celebrated in Saint Mother Theodore’s honor in the historic Church of the Immaculate Conception at 11 a.m.\n\n\n\nA celebratory picnic lunch at noon.\n\n\n\n\nAll are welcome to come celebrate this special day with us! \n\n\n\nJoin us as we prayerfully enter into places and stories that shaped Mother Theodore’s life. Consider how our God of Providence continues to invite each of us to bring hope\, compassion and healing into our world. \n\n\n\nCome as you are and bring someone with you. Whether you come seeking reflection\, connection\, renewal or a deeper sense of hope\, this day offers an opportunity to journey together and discover the ways Providence is still at work in our lives. \n\n\n\nMost spaces are accessible and there will be limited transportation to shuttle people who may need extra assistance. \n\n\n\nThere is no cost for the event\, but please register below so we know how many to prepare for. SUMMARY:Snackin' with the Alpacas: All Ages Reading Program
DESCRIPTION:Children of all ages\, along with their guardians\, are invited to join White Violet Center for Eco-Justice (WVC) staffers and others for the upcoming “Snackin’ with the Alpacas: All Ages Reading Program.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe event will take place from noon-1 p.m.\, on Wednesday\, October 28. Bring a sack lunch for a picnic near the alpacas while WVC Director of Outreach and Events Tara Elmore\, Farm Projects Assistant Raven Renn and Vigo County Public Library West Branch Assistant Librarian Beth Nelson read some fun alpaca stories. Tara will also offer alpaca fun facts. \n\n\n\nAfter lunch\, all guests will be able to meet some of our alpacas and have a take-home alpaca craft. \n\n\n\nThere is no cost to attend\, but donations for alpaca care are always appreciated. \n\n\n\nNo registration is required. \n\n\n\nFor more information\, contact 812-535-2946 or email mwimsett@spsmw.org.

DESCRIPTION:The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, Indiana\, and Providence Associates invite persons of all faith traditions to join them in person or virtually for the Eucharistic Liturgy (Mass) at 11:00 a.m.\, on Thursday\, November 19\, to celebrate the Feast Day of Our Lady of Providence. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCelebrate the Feast Day of Our Lady of Providence by joining the Congregation and Providence Associates for a special Mass. \n\n\n\nThe liturgy will take place in the Church of the Immaculate Conception at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, located 10 minutes northeast of downtown Terre Haute. \n\n\n\nDedication to Mary under the title of Our Lady of Providence began with the first shrine dedicated to her in Italy in 1664. In May 1925\, the Sisters of Providence established the National Shrine of Our Lady of Providence in the United States. \n\n\n\nIn April 2014\, the National Shrine of Our Lady of Providence was rededicated in a new location\, the vestibule of the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
