DESCRIPTION:Earth Day Program 2026\n\n\n\nYou and the family are invited to the White Violet Center for Eco-Justice and Sisters of Providence annual Earth Day Festival at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods! Immerse yourself in nature at our beautiful Woods while enjoying many different activities. There’s something for everyone from nature shows and earth-related craft activities for the kids\, to spinning\, weaving and felting demonstrations and visits with the alpacas that provide the fiber. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBe sure to bring your refillable water bottles for our free and eco-friendly water station. Our Providence Community will be hosting their popular bake sale with homemade baked goods of all kinds! \n\n\n\nThe festival begins at 11 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods is located 10 minutes northwest of downtown Terre Haute\, Indiana. \n\n\n\nWe will have entertainment like live music\, wildlife presentations\, woodcarving demonstrations and demonstrations on spinning and weaving. Food vendors will be available to purchase snacks\, beverages\, and meals – there will be something for all ages and dietary needs. We will also have vendors and educational exhibitors on hand for earth-friendly shopping and to expand your knowledge of how we can be better stewards of our planet. \n\n\n\nThose interested in volunteering for the event can sign up here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA special thank you to this year’s sponsor\, Ranger Power LLC.

DESCRIPTION:Due to the impending weather conditions and for the safety of our guests and volunteers\, we have decided to cancel Christmas Fun at the Woods.\n\n\n\nThe holiday tradition is back! Celebrate the coming of Christmas with the Sisters of Providence at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGuests of all ages are invited to the Providence Spirituality & Conference Center and Providence Hall for an afternoon full of fun for the whole family including crafts\, storytelling\, face painting\, bake sale\, cake walk and much more. \n\n\n\nThere may even be a visit from Santa himself! \n\n\n\nThe event will take place from 1:30-4:30 p.m.\, on Saturday\, Dec. 13. \n\n\n\nWe welcome a suggested donation of $5/car for this event. \n\n\n\nThe Sisters of Providence need more volunteers for various kids activities Saturday\, December 13th from 1:30 – 4:30 PM.  \n\n\n\nThe volunteer signup sheet is live! Groups and teens (with a guardian present) are welcome to volunteer for this event. \n\n\n\nInterested in learning more or have questions? In May 1925\, the Sisters of Providence established the National Shrine of Our Lady of Providence in the United States. \n\n\n\nIn April 2014\, the National Shrine of Our Lady of Providence was rededicated in a new location\, the vestibule of the Church of the Immaculate Conception.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Sisters of Providence on Sunday\, September 28\, for a Pilgrimage of Hope for Creation\, a spiritually transformative journey that blends prayer\, reflection and a deep commitment to caring for God’s creation. \n\n\n\nThe pilgrimage is part of the 2025 Jubilee Year celebrations\, inviting pilgrims from around the world to take part in a sacred walk of faith and ecological responsibility. \n\n\n\nAs part of the global call for ecological conversion initiated by Pope Francis in Laudato Si’\, this emphasizes the profound connection between spirituality and environmental stewardship. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPilgrims will embark on a journey that not only strengthens their faith\, but also challenges them to take concrete actions for the environment. \n\n\n\nThe pilgrimage is for everyone! While many of the sites at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods are outside and may require a good amount of walking\, we value inclusion and access and will provide alternative sacred spaces for pilgrims who may not be comfortable with the outdoor terrain. \n\n\n\nPlease dress appropriately for the weather by wearing comfortable walking shoes and make sure to bring sunscreen and a reusable water bottle. Water stations will be available for refills. \n\n\n\nMost spaces are accessible and there will be limited transportation to shuttle people who may need extra assistance. \n\n\n\nThe pilgrimage will take place at various places at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, Indiana. Check in time is 10-11 a.m.\, in the Foley Room at Providence Spirituality & Conference Center. Mass is at 11 a.m.\, in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Lunch will follow in the Community Room of Providence Hall. The pilgrimage will conclude at 4:30 p.m.\, with a closing prayer beginning at 4 p.m. Pilgrims are invited to bring a sack lunch or order a light lunch prepared by our catering staff. \n\n\n\nThere is no cost to attend the pilgrimage\, but registration is required.

DESCRIPTION:Providence Food Pantry invites the public to participate in the upcoming “Hunger Bust Fun Run/Walk” to take place at 10 a.m.\, on Saturday\, Sept. 6\, on the grounds of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods\, Indiana\, and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. \n\n\n\nAll proceeds from the event will benefit Providence Food Pantry\, a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Providence. \n\n\n\nSister Emily TeKolste gives a thumbs up.\n\n\n\nRegistration for the race will begin at 9 a.m.\, and conclude at 9:45 a.m.\, with the race beginning at 10 a.m.\, rain or shine. \n\n\n\nCost to take part in the race is $20\, with one T-shirt guaranteed to each pre-registered participant. Early registration must be received by Aug. 24. All T-shirts will be handed out during the event. \n\n\n\nThere are also sponsorships available for those businesses and individuals interested. Cost is $150 per business and $50 for individual sponsorships. Sponsorships need to be received by August 24. \n\n\n\nMake checks for pre-registration payable to Providence Food Pantry/Hunger Bust\, and mail to Providence Food Pantry\, 701 W. National Ave.\, West Terre Haute\, IN\, 47885. Registrations will also be accepted the morning of Hunger Bust. DESCRIPTION:You and the family are invited to the White Violet Center for Eco-Justice and Sisters of Providence annual Earth Day Festival at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods! Immerse yourself in nature at our beautiful Woods while enjoying many different activities. There’s something for everyone from nature shows and earth-related craft activities for the kids\, to spinning\, weaving and felting demonstrations and visits with the alpacas that provide the fiber. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSee below for a complete list of scheduled events. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBe sure to bring your refillable water bottles for our free and eco-friendly water station. Our Providence Community will be hosting their popular bake sale with homemade baked goods of all kinds! \n\n\n\nThe festival begins at 11 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods is located 10 minutes northwest of downtown Terre Haute\, Indiana.  \n\n\n\nWe will have entertainment like live music\, wildlife presentations\, woodcarving demonstrations and demonstrations on spinning and weaving. Food vendors will be available to purchase snacks\, beverages\, and meals – there will be something for all ages and dietary needs. DESCRIPTION:Visit our (almost) famous alpaca herd at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. Learn about the origins of alpacas and why they are so beneficial to our USDA-certified organic farm.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSee and feel their sheared fiber and go step by step through each process that occurs after shearing which includes skirting\, carding\, and spinning as well as a hands-on demonstration on how to weave using a tabletop loom.  \n\n\n\nLearn about other products made from alpaca fiber. There will also be a chance to make your own felted ornament at the end of the experience.

This popular event will be held in the Foley Room located across the hall from Linden Leaf Gifts inside the Providence Spirituality & Conference Center. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMany different categories of hardback and paperback books will be available for purchase. Genres range from gardening\, spirituality\, fiction\, non-fiction\, autobiographies\, history\, health and wellness\, crafting\, biographies\, children’s books\, Bibles and more. There is a little something for everyone! \n\n\n\nItems are not pre-priced. Pricing is by freewill donation that directly supports the Sisters of Providence and their ministries.
