Teens got talent! Volunteer day with the Sisters of Providence

Open for registration.

Do you sing? Dance? Play an instrument? Are you a comedian, juggler or poet? All 12 to 18 year-olds are invited to bring your dance troupe, your band, your ensemble or just yourself and come volunteer your time entertaining retired Sisters of Providence and others at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. Share your talents and bring joy to others!

Make your plans for March 9 at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.


10 a.m. – noon Concert
noon – 1 p.m. Lunch with Sisters
1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Tour Shrine/Social with Sisters

(Performers should plan to arrive for check-in between 8:45-9:30 am at Providence Spirituality and Conference Center. Other teen volunteers should arrive at 9:30 a.m. to bring the sisters from the healthcare facility to the performance.)

10-12 acts of 8 minutes or less will be chosen to perform. Please email a video of what you would like to perform to Sister Joni Luna at jluna@spsmw.org at the time of your application. Not able to send video? Call Sister Joni at 361-500-9505 to make other arrangements.

All involved are then invited to lunch and time to visit with and get to know the sisters and others in attendance. Get to know your neighbors! Finally, you can take a guided tour of beautiful and historic Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.

Sister Joni Luna, SP

Sister Joni Luna has a long history of working with young people, having served as a teacher and coach much of her adult life. She currently ministers as children's program director and outreach coordinator at Miracle Place neighborhood ministry in Indianapolis. She is a native of San Antonio, Texas. She entered the Sisters of Providence in 2012 after spending many years as a physical education teacher, athletic director and coach in Texas. In addition to her education degree, Sister Joni has a master's in educational administration and supervision.
