Providence teen volunteer ministry summer 2019

Save the date for our winter and spring volunteer opportunities: Dec 7, 2019   9-2 (help at Christmas Fun at the Woods); Jan 11, 2020; Feb 1, 2020; March 7, 2020 (Teen Talent Show); April 25, 2020 (help elders attend Earth Day Festival).

Calling all middle school and high school students. Looking to do something valuable this summer? Do you like to volunteer? Share your talents with others? Do crafts, paint nails, cook? Share stories with elders? If so, volunteer this June with our elder Sisters of Providence and residents of Providence Health Care at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.

Volunteer this summer!

Our summer volunteer ministry dates include four two-day sessions. Sign up for one session or all of them! Sign up today! There are ten volunteer positions per session.

Session 1: Mon-Tuesday June 3-4
Session 2: Wed-Thurs June 5-6
Session 3: Mon-Tues June 10-11
Session 4: Wed-Thurs June 12-13.

Each volunteer day runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., meeting at Providence Spirituality and Conference Center at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.

You’ll have opportunity to share your talents and interests with our elders, take them for walks on the grounds, participate in activities, visit and more. Your time and presence can brighten someone’s day! Take the time to share yourself this summer. Scroll down to sign up today!

Sister Joni Luna, SP

Sister Joni Luna has a long history of working with young people, having served as a teacher and coach much of her adult life. She currently ministers as children's program director and outreach coordinator at Miracle Place neighborhood ministry in Indianapolis. She is a native of San Antonio, Texas. She entered the Sisters of Providence in 2012 after spending many years as a physical education teacher, athletic director and coach in Texas. In addition to her education degree, Sister Joni has a master's in educational administration and supervision.
