Explore the lives, writings and prayer of four amazing mystics so deeply united with God that, with Paul they could proclaim – “No longer do I live but Christ lives within me.” During these sessions we will examine perspectives on what mysticism is and how God continues to invite Christians into deeper relationship and divine union even in the 21st Century. We will become acquainted with four mystics:

Jan. 16: Saint Joan of Arc
Feb. 20: Meister Eckhart
March 13: Dorothy Day
April 10: Saint John XXIII

Sister Paula Damiano, SP

Sister Paula Damiano, SP, is co-director of Providence Spirituality & Conference Center and has led retreats and workshops on a variety of spiritual topics in the United States and in Canada, Europe and Asia. She has a special interest in combining art and music in retreat work. She has a bachelor’s degree in art education, a master’s degree in spirituality from Fordham University and a certificate in business executive management. Sister Paula is the former high school teacher, diocesan vocation director, Congregation vocation director, associate pastor and provincial councilor, also served as a Sisters of Providence General Officer for 10 years.

Sister Jan Craven, SP

Sister Jan Craven, SP, is director of the Shrine of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin and the National Shrine of Our Lady of Providence. She is co-director of Providence Spirituality & Conference Center. She holds master’s degrees in spirituality and in the philosophy of religion and theology. She is a former teacher, director of religious education, pastoral associate, provincial councilor and tribunal advocate as well as the former director of postulants at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
