Sisters to host Christmas Fun at the Woods

Spend the second Saturday of December at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, and celebrate Christmas Fun at the Woods with the Sisters of Providence!

All are invited to join the sisters and others for the family-friendly gathering. Activities for this year’s festivities will take place from 1:30-4:30 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, located 10 minutes from downtown Terre Haute. This year’s theme is “Over the River and to the Woods!”

Children and their families will have the opportunity to take part in many activities throughout the afternoon, including hayrides, sing-a-longs and cookie decorating! Nativity sets will also be on display in the window sills of Providence Hall. Make a point of visiting Father Dan’s extensive Snow Village display.

Children and families wishing to dress up in front of a nativity scene may do so in the Foley Room at Providence Spirituality & Conference Center. There will also be stations for face painting this year as well as storytelling for children and more!

Families can visit with Santa at the Lodge located behind Providence Spirituality & Conference Center and he may bring some of the alpacas there as well! All planning on attending are encouraged to bring their own cameras for photographic memories throughout the day.

And don’t forget to visit the North Pole at White Violet Center for Eco-Justice in addition to visiting with the alpacas. Refreshments will also be available and the Santa Express Shuttle Service will be available on campus throughout the event.

Tours of the Saint Mother Theodore Guerin Shrine and Blessed Sacrament Chapel will be available throughout the day.

Providence Associates and sisters will also conduct a bake sale during the afternoon in O’Shaughnessy Dining Hall from 1:30-4:30 p.m., where patrons can expect to purchase cakes, cookies, pies, jams and more, all priced at freewill offerings.

Cost is $7 per person and children 3 and under will be admitted free. Pre-sale of tickets is encouraged online here.
